About:

The SHS Varsity Club is composed of Varsity student athletes who have displayed excellence in the classroom, played at least one Varsity sport during high school and have a commitment to community service. We were founded in 1985 and have been an active member of our community ever since.

Activities: Lions Club, Retreat for women in Easthampton, Relay for Life, Make A Wish, Red Cross, Southampton Human Resources, Southampton high school Memorial scholarship fund and this year the Special Olympics.

1. During the Fall of 2014 we Raised money for a Retreat for women in Easthampton – helps to feed and cloth women in need

2. December 2014 we volunteered for the Polar Plunge that helped raise $800

3. January 2015 we hosted a Badminton Tournament for the Special Olympics that raised $500-$600

4. Over the summer the athletes volunteered on a Saturday for the lions Club. They spent their day volunteering at the concession stand.

5. On March 1st we will be hosting our Largest Community Service Event that is a Basketball tournament for Make-A-Wish and a Southampton high school Memorial scholarship fund. The athletes canvas their town of Southampton to collect donations.

The tournament consists of teams of two comprised of one boy and one girl. The teams compete in a double elimination tournament. Every team is guaranteed at least two games. There are prizes for the top three teams. A three point shooting contest will be held during the event.

Also, SHS Varsity Club made a difference with the Penny War Donations from March Madness! Thank you to all of the SHS students who combined their change to collect $576.12 to donate toward granting the wishes of Jason and Nicholas!
