About:
Tyler Gallub’s commitment to community service has been shaped by the places that mean the most to him — swimming, school, and church. Over the past four years, Tyler has dedicated his time to supporting others through athletics, mentorship, leadership, and civic advocacy, consistently working to make his community more inclusive and supportive.
As a volunteer meet timer for the Smithtown-Hauppauge girls swim team, Tyler has contributed more than 60 hours helping athletes and coaches during competitions. From setting up the pool to timing events, his reliability and dedication have helped ensure successful meets while supporting student-athletes throughout their seasons.
Tyler’s passion for swimming and service also extends to his work as a Special Olympics volunteer coach, where he helps athletes build confidence in the pool while celebrating their accomplishments and growth. In addition, he provides volunteer swim lessons for underprivileged children across Long Island, helping introduce young athletes to a sport that has had a major impact on his own life.
Beyond the pool deck, Tyler serves as the athlete representative on the Metro Swimming Officials’ Committee Board, acting as a liaison between athletes and officials. Through this leadership role, he has strengthened his communication, mentorship, and advocacy skills while helping create positive environments for athletes.
Tyler has also made an impact through civic engagement. As part of an advanced participation in government civics project, he co-led a campaign advocating for a crosswalk installation on Route 25A in Smithtown to improve pedestrian safety near a busy intersection. Through gathering signatures, interviewing residents, and presenting concerns to local officials, Tyler helped turn a community safety issue into meaningful action.
Additionally, as president of his school’s National Honor Society, Tyler has helped organize and lead service initiatives that benefit the broader community.
Whether mentoring young swimmers, advocating for public safety, or leading volunteer efforts, Tyler Gallub continues to demonstrate how leadership and service can create lasting change both in and out of the community.
