About:
Rooted in the communities that shaped him — swimming, school, and church — Tyler has turned his passion for service into meaningful action across Long Island.
Over the past four years, Tyler has dedicated more than 60 hours supporting the Smithtown-Hauppauge girls’ swim team as a volunteer meet timer. From setting up the pool to timing races during every meet, his consistent presence has helped ensure competitions run smoothly while demonstrating the importance of reliability, teamwork, and service.
His commitment to helping others extends beyond the high school level through his work as a Special Olympics volunteer coach. Working directly with athletes in the pool, Tyler has helped build confidence, encourage growth, and celebrate achievements both big and small. Inspired by the determination of the athletes he coaches, he has made creating inclusive and supportive environments a central part of his service.
Tyler also volunteers his time teaching swim lessons to underprivileged athletes across Long Island, helping provide access to a sport that has had such a positive impact on his own life. Through these lessons, he is helping young athletes gain skills, confidence, and opportunities they may not otherwise have.
In addition to his athletic involvement, Tyler serves as the athlete representative on the Metro Swimming Officials’ Committee Board, acting as a liaison between athletes and officials. The role has strengthened his leadership, communication, and mentorship skills while giving athletes a voice within the sport.
His impact reaches beyond athletics into civic advocacy as well. Through an advanced government civics project, Tyler co-led a community campaign advocating for the installation of a crosswalk on Route 25A in Smithtown near a busy Starbucks location. By gathering signatures, interviewing residents, and presenting concerns to local officials, he helped transform a community safety concern into meaningful civic action.
As president of his school’s National Honor Society, Tyler has also led additional service initiatives focused on giving back and strengthening the local community.
Whether through athletics, advocacy, or leadership, Tyler’s mission has remained consistent: to use his time, skills, and voice to create a safer, more supportive, and more inclusive community for others.
