About:

Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia women’s basketball team recently took some time to help out in the community and completed two volunteer service projects with DC Special Olympics and Food & Friends. First, on October 31st, the women’s basketball student-athletes volunteered at a local Food & Friends – an organization that provides home delivered meals to terminally ill residents in the Washington, DC Metro area. The team has been volunteering with this organization annually since the 2007-08 season, helping with everything from packaging meals for delivery, to unloading and sorting canned goods and food items for the kitchen. This year, the student-athletes also helped label envelopes for the organization’s holiday donation mail-outs.
