For the past eight seasons, the Fairport Boys Wrestling Team has participated in the annual Takedown Cancer dual meet tournament, a special event where teams raise money for Camp Good Days and Special Times, a local charity supporting families affected by cancer. This season, however, the event was not held, so the team took the initiative to host their own fundraiser to benefit both the charity and raise awareness for the ongoing fight against cancer.
This year’s event carried personal significance for both the Boys and Girls Wrestling Teams, as two wrestlers are currently facing the challenge of having parents battling cancer. In response, the team’s booster club organized the event alongside the Alumni Night dual, with T-shirts sold to raise funds for the cause.
Wrestlers worked hard to gather donations, reaching out to their peers, teachers, and administrators during lunch periods, while parents and coaches also contributed. Thanks to everyone’s support, over $2,500 was raised to help both the impacted families and Camp Good Days.
The team is incredibly proud of the effort their wrestlers put forth to support their teammates and others in the ongoing fight against cancer.
Awesome job everyone!! Thankyou for what you have done for our community!!!
