Lee Avenue Elementary School in Hicksville recently hosted a coat drive inviting students, teachers and staff to donate gently worn winter coats for neighbors in need.
The Hicksville school partnered with “One Warm Coat,” a national organization that provides free coats to children and adults in need while promoting volunteerism and environmental sustainability. Through One Warm Coat, Lee Avenue was matched with a nonprofit in Hempstead who will distribute the coats locally.
Those who contributed to the coat drive were encouraged to include a note of kindness in the pocket of each donated coat.
