Several dozen students from Kennedy High School in the Bellmore-Merrick Central School District gathered on the field to participate in a flag football fundraiser for Hope for Youth.
Leadership students Nicole Giardano and Layla Schechner helped organize the fundraiser, in part with Kennedy Student government. The group is overseen by faculty adviser Brad Seidman. Athletic Director Craig Papach and various coaches also volunteered at the event.
After the bracketed play, the winning team won a $50 Applebee’s gift card. Nearly $400 from entry fees was donated to the Hope for Youth charity.
Hope for Youth provides services for youth and families, spanning a continuum of care from out-patient, clinical and preventive services, to foster care, diagnostic and emergency residential services.
