The Garden City Public Schools celebrated National Unity Day on Oct. 21, 2020. Unity Day is an annual event that promotes joining together to create healthier communities through kindness, acceptance of difference and inclusion. All staff and students were invited to wear orange to show their unified support. At Hemlock, Homestead and Locust, Primary School Social Worker Ms. Martinez read the book “A Little Spot of Kindness,” by Diane Alber, and students received a spot of kindness sticker. After brainstorming ways to be a kind friend, students completed a portrait of themselves performing an act of kindness, and decorated a crown of kindness.
