Throughout October, Longwood Junior High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity cheerleaders transformed their home football games into a vibrant campaign for breast cancer awareness with their engaging “Tuck for a Buck” fundraiser. Armed with pink pom-poms and endless enthusiasm, the cheerleaders inspired their community to rally together for an important cause.
The initiative was as entertaining as it was impactful: for every dollar donated, the cheerleaders performed either a thrilling “back tuck” or a “back handspring,” captivating the crowd while showing gratitude to their supporters. This interactive approach created a buzz in the stands, blending athleticism and advocacy in a unique and memorable way.
Over the course of the month, 68 cheerleaders from all three levels—Junior High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity—dedicated 18-20 hours to the fundraiser, leveraging their football games as a platform for giving back. Their hard work paid off, raising more than $1,000 to support Long Island-based breast cancer research foundations. Every dollar collected will go directly toward advancing critical research and providing essential support services for those affected by breast cancer.
The Longwood community’s generous support and the cheerleaders’ boundless energy made this initiative an incredible success. Together, they demonstrated how a shared commitment to a cause can unite a community and make a difference.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to the fundraiser. Your support has brought us one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Together, we’re stronger!
