On Saturday, April 12th, the Malverne-East Rockaway JV girls lacrosse team proudly participated in the Youth Clean Up Program, a community initiative sponsored by the Lakeview Civic Association and the Nassau County Office of Youth Services.
Braving cold and rainy weather—and even the start of their spring break—15 dedicated athletes volunteered their time to help beautify the area surrounding the Lakeview LIRR Station. For two hours, the student-athletes rolled up their sleeves, donned reflective vests and ponchos, and worked together to clean up the neighborhood.
Coach Nicole Beauford, who led the team’s involvement, connected with Ms. Lataya Carter from the Lakeview Civic Association. Ms. Carter was warm, welcoming, and deeply appreciative of the team’s commitment to giving back.
Volunteers were provided with essential supplies, including work gloves and garbage bags, to help make the cleanup efficient and safe. This inspiring event is part of an ongoing effort, with the Youth Clean Up Program running every Saturday from April 5th through June 7th at various locations throughout Nassau County.
The Malverne-East Rockaway JV girls lacrosse team’s efforts are a shining example of young athletes stepping up to serve their community—rain or shine.
