Each September, Marshfield High School (MHS) rallies its student-athletes, coaches, and community to support Pediatric Cancer Awareness through the annual Go Gold Campaign. Working alongside volunteers at South Shore Action for Hope, this initiative raises funds and brings awareness to families affected by pediatric cancer, while uniting teams and the broader community in a meaningful cause.
The campaign has deep roots in the South Shore. It began locally through Wicked Good Cause, an organization dedicated to fundraising for families facing cancer or other tragedies. After WGC dissolved during the pandemic, a dedicated group of volunteers launched South Shore Action for Hope, continuing the mission of supporting local families in need.
At MHS, the Go Gold campaign was introduced in 2018, gaining momentum when fall athletic teams fully embraced the initiative in 2019. Teams donned gold gear, sold merchandise, and collected donations at games, raising $4,000 in its first year. After a pandemic pause, the campaign was revived with student leadership through the Gold Ribbon Club, which now ensures the initiative continues annually and expands across all Marshfield schools.
