September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and students and staff at McKenna Elementary School in the Massapequa School District wore yellow and gold on Sept. 25 to support the cause.
To rally support for the cause, students participated in beach games during physical education classes on Wear Gold Day, including volleyball, cornhole and gaga ball. Donations received throughout the day were donated to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, which supports research, raises awareness and provides educational resources and program to children with cancer, survivors and families.
