Monroe-Woodbury’s student-athletes have been hard at work, making a positive impact in their community through a variety of service initiatives this fall. Across sports, these dedicated athletes have come together to support important causes, honor role models, and raise awareness on key issues.
Boys Football
- October Food Drive: With 50 participants contributing three hours each, the Boys Football team organized a successful food drive to support local families.
- Teacher Appreciation in September: In a heartwarming tribute, the team honored teachers who have made a lasting impact on them.
- Honoring Military and First Responders: In September, the players dedicated time to show appreciation for those who serve and protect the community.
Girls Soccer
- Special Olympics: 28 players volunteered two hours to assist in a Special Olympics event, promoting inclusivity and support for athletes of all abilities.
- Breast Cancer Walk: The team walked in support of breast cancer awareness, with 35 participants dedicating two hours to the cause.
- Red Ribbon Week Video: To raise awareness for Red Ribbon Week, 28 team members created an informative video in just one hour.
Boys Soccer
- Red Ribbon Week Video: Mirroring the girls’ efforts, the Boys Soccer team also participated in creating a video for Red Ribbon Week with 28 participants involved.
Cheerleading
- Breast Cancer Walk: The Cheerleading team joined the walk, with 30 participants raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
- Red Ribbon Week Elementary Talk: Team members spent two hours speaking with elementary students about Red Ribbon Week, encouraging healthy, drug-free choices.
Girls Swimming and Diving
- Breast Cancer Walk: 23 participants from the Girls Swimming and Diving team walked in support of breast cancer awareness, contributing two hours to this meaningful cause.
Girls Volleyball
- Red Ribbon Week Video: 20 volleyball players contributed an hour to create an engaging video for Red Ribbon Week.
Boys Baseball
- Honor Flight for Veterans: The Boys Baseball team spent three hours supporting an Honor Flight event, recognizing veterans for their service.
