Dozens of festive shopping bags were filled to the brim with cans, boxes and packages of nonperishable food items as the Rocky Point Middle School advisories conducted their annual Thanksgiving food drive on Nov. 16.
Students brought in, gathered, sorted and then packaged the items for breakfast, lunch and dinner in each bag for local food pantries.
To add some additional fun to the high-spirited event, students received a Rocky Point Middle School Pride ticket for their donations, which they are able to turn in for a variety of prizes at the school’s PBIS Pride cart.
“We are so grateful for our students and staff for this outpouring of support for others,” Assistant Principal Dawn Meyers said. “It points to the character traits of kindness and compassion in ensuring that others in the community have a pleasant Thanksgiving because of their efforts.”
