Pembroke Girls Basketball team will be hosting their 9th annual Shooting For A Cure!

October 9, 2019 By Team Up 4 Community Leave a Comment

October 1, 2019 On Thursday, January 16th the Pembroke Girls Basketball team will be hosting their 9th annual Shooting For A Cure! benefit to raise awareness and funds for cancer research in conjunction with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Roswell Park has sanctioned our event and greatly values what our team has been able to do over the past eight seasons. Our Shooting For A Cure! campaign helps us raise funds for cancer research at Roswell Park in addition to bringing further awareness to the disease. Based on last season’s success, our team firmly believes in this cause and will be hosting another game this season to honor those individuals in our faculty, immediate families, and community whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Our team will take the court versus Oakfield-Alabama at 7:00pm and do what they do best–play basketball- -to show their love and support for all who have been affected by this disease.

Last year with the support of local area businesses and generous community members, our program was able to raise over $30,000 for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in one night! Over the past eight seasons we have been fortunate enough to have had the support of 26Shirts, ADPRO Sports, Batavia Country Club, Batavia’s Original, the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Bandits and Bisons, Byrncliff Golf Resort, Clarence Deli, Courage of Carly Foundation, Coca- Cola of Rochester, Crickler’s Vending, Dave & Adams Card World, Fenton’s Produce, National Grid, Northtowne Automotive, Original Pizza Logs, Pillar Real Estate Investors, Southwest Airlines, Terry Hills, Walt Disney World, Yancey’s Fancy, YMCA of Batavia…and the list continues to grow each season! To date, we’ve raised $119,153.46 for Roswell Park and hope to keep this benevolent tradition focused on supporting those in need in our community. In preparation for our game on January 16th, we are seeking donations from our community to make this year’s event even more successful than the last.

We are in need of additional support from local businesses with items that could be raffled off, as well as food, beverage and/or merchandise that could be sold that evening with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit cancer research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. In our district, there have been several faculty, family, and community members diagnosed with cancer.

Our team is committed to using its student-athlete platform to serve this members of our community. We would greatly appreciate any additional support that your business is willing to provide our Shooting For A Cure! event.

Any donation of any kind, big or small, would be happily accepted.

Thank you for your support! If you have any questions or would like to support our mission, please contact: Michael Wilson at 716-949-0523, Amy Peters at 716-998-1860, Shannon Johnson at 585-409-5075 or Leah Underwood 585-409-6815.
