The first annual “Play for Pearl Day” was established this year to honor a beloved Bay Shore community member who lost her battle with B-ALL Leukemia at the age of 9. Pearl, who played for the Bay Shore Youth Lacrosse program, was known for her love of life, bright colors, and lacrosse. To commemorate her, the Bay Shore Varsity girls’ lacrosse team hosted “Play for Pearl Day,” wearing Team Pearl Girl shirts with her lucky number “3” on the back. The event included participation from the youth program both on and off the field. As the community continues to heal from this loss, this day celebrated Pearl’s life, teaching resilience, and creating traditions in her honor.
