The 3rd Annual Panther Palooza at Rye Neck was more than just a track and field event—it was a day filled with purpose, unity, and heartfelt community spirit. Athletes, families, and supporters came together to celebrate not only the sport they love but also the strength and resilience of one of their own.
This year’s meet held special meaning as the team rallied around a fellow athlete currently battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In a touching display of solidarity, the team launched a fundraiser featuring custom-designed t-shirts—created by Assistant Coach Dave Golden—with proceeds directly supporting the athlete’s family. On Saturday, April 5, the team proudly wore the shirts during the event, transforming the track into a vibrant display of compassion and strength.
The highlight of the day was a moving ceremony led by Head Coach Susan Soohoo, who spoke about the significance of the fundraiser and the team’s collective efforts. The moment served as a powerful reminder of the support systems that exist within athletics and the impact of coming together for a greater cause.
With guidance from Head Coach Marcella Scalise, the Rye Neck team turned Panther Palooza into more than an annual tradition—it became a symbol of hope, unity, and the unbreakable bonds formed through sport.
