Students in the Sachem Central School District are displaying kindness and love with Valentine’s Day-themed service projects.
Waverly Elementary School collected nearly 460 Valentine’s Day boxes filled with treats to be donated to six local shelters. Fifth graders helped pack the boxes with books, toys, snacks and supplies to be distributed to children experiencing homelessness. This is a tradition that has been taking place at Waverly for nearly 40 years.
At Wenonah Elementary School, students in Kerianne Cassidy’s class made Valentine’s Day cards to be sent to troops overseas through Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude provides opportunities for Americans to assist military members and first responders.
