Shoreham-Wading River Central School District’s Miller Avenue School Student Council raised $833 as a result of a St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser. The students created posters to advertise the sale of St. Patrick’s Day-themed items. They packaged their colorful products including green bouncy balls, bendable toy shamrocks, shamrock stress balls, notepads and St. Patrick’s Day rubber ducks.
The money raised will be donated to the Debra Organization’s Smile Fund Program in honor of Grace Peshkur. The Smile Fund Program was created by Karen Peshkur, Grace’s mother, to bring smiles to the faces of children and adults with epidermolysis bullosa, granting a special wish to an individual with EB.
Co-adviser Robert Korchma introduced the organization’s mission to co-adviser Mary Anne Benz and the students to bring awareness to the rare medical condition.
