The North High School National Junior Honor Society held an event to help combat the isolation many senior citizens are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Letters Against Isolation is a campaign that was formed at the start of the pandemic in an effort to connect volunteers with self-isolating seniors.
Members of the Society, Language Honor Society and National Honor Society teamed up with Valley Stream’s local Kiwanis Club for the campaign. More than 70 members, both in-person and virtual, joined the movement and wrote letters to seniors living in nursing homes from throughout the country to brighten their day. Their efforts produced more 200 letters. The Honor Society members were thrilled to aid in such an important effort.
