A Tamarac Elementary School third grader is in the spirit of giving and for the second year in a row, has organized his own toy drive. Dean Plantamura encourages his peers to drop off toys to his home. Dean and his family then donate the toys to Suffolk County Family and Children’s Services to be distributed to local families in need.
Those who drop off presents are welcomed to admire the Christmas decorations at the Plantamura home and are given a candy cane for donating a toy. Dean hopes to share the message that Christmas is about giving, not receiving. He has collected nearly 100 toys this season and is already planning his drive for next year.
