The West Islip High School girls basketball teams recently partnered with the Babylon High School girls basketball teams in support of the annual Section XI Coaches vs. Cancer “Score for a Cure” fundraising initiative. Both the West Islip junior varsity and varsity teams participated in the event, wearing special shirts bearing the names of loved ones and individuals they were playing for in the fight against cancer. The meaningful gesture highlighted the personal connections and shared commitment of student-athletes from both schools to raising awareness and supporting cancer research.
Through their collective efforts, $660 was raised in support of the American Cancer Society. The initiative served as a powerful reminder of the role interscholastic athletics can play in uniting communities for a greater cause. West Islip commends its student-athletes and coaches for their leadership, compassion and dedication to making a positive impact beyond the court.
