About:
For the second consecutive year, the Longwood Cheerleading program, from Junior High through Varsity, came together for their month-long “Tuck for a Buck” charity fundraiser to support the fight against breast cancer.
Throughout the football season, the cheerleaders collected donations at all home games. In appreciation of the community’s generosity, athletes performed tumbling passes, tucks, back handsprings, or stunts to thank fans for their support. At the Homecoming game alone, the team raised over 500 dollars, with the crowd cheering as the athletes showcased their pink poms and signs in celebration.
In addition to the in-game fundraising, the team hosted a pink t-shirt sale in August, with all proceeds benefiting the cause. The shirts were a huge success, with fans proudly wearing them in the stands to show their support.
Continuing a beloved tradition, the cheerleaders also displayed a pink ribbon string at every game featuring hearts where donors could write names, dedications, or messages of hope. At varsity games, fans who contributed received small tokens of appreciation, including mini pink footballs for donations over 5 dollars and black and pink socks for those over 10 dollars.
Altogether, the Longwood Cheerleaders raised approximately 1,600 dollars, surpassing last year’s total. The athletes were thrilled to see their community’s enthusiasm and generosity grow year after year.
While the recognition is rewarding, the team emphasizes that their efforts are about much more than fundraising. It is about honoring the fighters, survivors, and families affected by cancer. The Longwood Cheerleaders continue to prove that their spirit shines both on and off the field, inspiring their community through every jump, stunt, and smile.
