About:
The Port Washington athletic community has continued to shine both in competition and in compassion, coming together across multiple sports to raise awareness for mental health through a series of Morgan’s Message dedication games. Athletes, coaches, and fans united to support the mission of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in sports — showing that true victory comes from kindness, understanding, and community.
The Port Washington Girls Soccer Team helped lead the charge, dedicating their home game against Garden City to Morgan’s Message and encouraging the community to show up in blue in support of mental health awareness. The event served as a powerful reminder that teamwork and empathy go hand in hand.
Under the Friday night lights, the Vikings Boys Football Team carried that message forward, dedicating their game to Morgan’s Message and demonstrating what it means to play for something greater than the scoreboard.
The Port Washington Field Hockey Team and their middle school counterparts also joined in, hosting a Morgan’s Message game alongside Seaford. Players spent time before the event creating posters and spreading awareness throughout the community, inspiring even younger athletes to take part in the movement.
The Port Washington Girls Lacrosse Team made their mark earlier this year, celebrating both a win on the field and a win for mental health. Their dedication game with Lynbrook Girls Lacrosse helped further amplify Morgan’s Message and encouraged open conversations about student-athlete well-being.
Most recently, the Port Washington Girls Volleyball Team continued the tradition, dedicating their playoff game to Morgan’s Message. Following their impressive playoff win, the team was recognized for helping to spread mental health awareness both on and off the court — another proud example of Port Washington athletes using their platform for good.
Together, these programs have helped strengthen the reach of Morgan’s Message throughout the Port Washington community. From the turf to the court to the field, each team has shown that being “More Than an Athlete” means supporting one another, raising awareness, and playing with purpose.
