The holiday season is a time for giving, and few embody that spirit quite like Luke Fischetti — Mepham Class of 2026 and Varsity Soccer #11 — who is once again dedicating his time and energy to bring joy to families in need through the Bellmore Lions Club’s annual Polar Xpress event.
For the past three years, he has volunteered at this heartwarming celebration, which welcomes hundreds of families from local shelters to enjoy a day filled with gifts, toys, and festive treats — all donated by the Lions Club and caring members of the community.
Last year, he went above and beyond by personally donating $300 in gift cards and assembling over 125 gift bags filled with candy canes and new cards for the children. Even with that generosity, demand exceeded supply — a reflection of how many families rely on this wonderful event.
This year, his goal is to make the effort even bigger. He’s calling on the sports card community, classmates, and local supporters to join him in helping make the holidays brighter for these families — whether through cash donations (via Venmo @rippingcards with 💚❤️) or by donating sports cards to help create even more gift bags.
It’s a beautiful example of a student-athlete using his platform for good.
