About:
Community service came to life for students in the Bethpage Union Free School District, where learning extended far beyond classroom walls.
This Valentine’s Day, first graders at Kramer Lane Elementary didn’t just talk about kindness and giving back—they put those values into action. With big hearts and creative hands, students crafted handwritten Valentine’s cards, decorated candy hearts, and shared chocolates, all to brighten someone else’s day.
Through these simple but meaningful acts, students learned that community service doesn’t have to be complicated to make an impact. Their thoughtful gestures demonstrated how even small actions can spread joy, connection, and compassion.
By turning lessons into lived experiences, the Kramer Lane first graders showed that caring for others starts early—and that kindness, when shared, can ripple throughout a community.
