About:
Student leaders from Duxbury High School recently showcased their commitment to service and school pride by participating in the annual Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics.
Members of the Student Council joined hundreds of student leaders from across Massachusetts at Craigsville Beach in Hyannis during the Massachusetts Association of Student Councils (MASC) conference. Together, they took the plunge to raise awareness and funds for an important cause, continuing a long-standing tradition of support for Special Olympics.
Despite plans to once again host Bear Force 1, the mobile plunge unit, on campus this year, a February storm forced the cancellation of the local event. Undeterred, Duxbury students still made the trip to the conference and proudly participated in the Polar Plunge alongside their peers from across the state.
Through their collective efforts, the Duxbury Student Council raised an impressive $7,779 for Special Olympics. Leading the way was junior Noah Price, who earned the distinction of Top Individual Fundraiser in the state for the third consecutive year — a remarkable achievement that reflects his dedication, leadership, and passion for giving back.
The Polar Plunge continues to be a powerful opportunity for students to demonstrate courage, compassion, and teamwork while supporting meaningful initiatives. The Duxbury “Dragons” community showed tremendous unity and spirit throughout the effort, proving once again that student-led service can create a lasting and positive impact both within the school and beyond.
