About:
Bay Shore High School Girls Lacrosse recently united its school and youth lacrosse communities for the annual “Play for Pearl Day,” a heartfelt event honoring the life and legacy of a beloved young athlete. ✨🥍
The special day was created in memory of Pearl, a former Bay Shore Youth Lacrosse player who passed away after battling B-ALL Leukemia at just 9 years old. Known for her love of lacrosse, bright colors, and joyful spirit, Pearl left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
To honor her memory, the Bay Shore varsity girls lacrosse team wore Team Pearl Girl shirts featuring Pearl’s lucky number “3” while taking the field against Lindenhurst. The event also included participation from the youth lacrosse program, helping connect younger players with the varsity athletes in a powerful show of community support and remembrance.
More than just a game, “Play for Pearl Day” has become a meaningful tradition centered around resilience, healing, and celebrating Pearl’s life and spirit. Through athletics, the Bay Shore community continues to keep her memory alive while supporting one another and inspiring future generations of players.
The event served as a beautiful reminder that sports can bring people together not only through competition, but through love, remembrance, and communit
