Seven varsity volleyball teams will come together at Mattituck High School on September 26 for the first Kelly Pickering Memorial Volleyball Tournament, honoring the life and legacy of a beloved coach and educator who passed away earlier this year.
The tournament will feature a full day of volleyball, raffles and additional fundraising efforts, with proceeds benefiting a new scholarship fund established in Kelly Pickering’s name.
For those who knew her, the event is about more than competition. It is a way to keep her impact alive and continue the values she brought to her players, students and community.
Her wife, Jeanine Graviano, shared that the tournament is “a small part of her memory continuing to be carried forward.”
By bringing together student-athletes from seven varsity programs, the memorial tournament will celebrate Coach Pickering’s influence while creating an opportunity to support future students through the scholarship established in her honor.
