Patchogue-Medford Cheerleading came together for a meaningful halftime tribute honoring local hometown heroes and commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11.
The cheerleaders performed a special routine dedicated to first responders, service members and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
As part of the tribute, the team recognized three hometown heroes with strong ties to the community:
- Kevin Costello — Active Member of the Air National Guard
- Brandon Zielazny — Retired Air National Guard and FDNY
- Jason Costantini — Retired United States Marine Corps
Through the performance, the student-athletes helped honor the courage, service and sacrifice represented by these individuals and by so many others whose lives were forever connected to September 11.
The event also gave the team an opportunity to show what remembrance can look like through athletics — bringing the community together, recognizing those who serve, and helping ensure that the meaning of 9/11 continues to be passed on to a new generation.
