Dracut Baseball stepped up to the plate this preseason with a purpose far greater than the game—hosting its annual multi-team tournament to support the Dracut Food Pantry and help families in need.
Now in its third year, this impactful event continued to grow, bringing together teams from Bedford, Greater Lowell, and Wilmington for a day centered not just on baseball, but on giving back. While the competition on the field was strong, the mission off the field was even stronger.
Held on March 28th, the tournament encouraged players, families, and fans to bring non-perishable food items, transforming a day at the ballpark into a powerful community-wide effort to fight hunger.
More Than a Tournament
For everyone involved, this was about more than just a few preseason games. It was about recognizing that athletics can be used as a platform to support those in need.
The impact was clear—after the games concluded, the coach and several players personally delivered the donations to the food pantry, filling 6–7 carriages full of food. In addition to food donations, participating programs also contributed monetary donations, further extending the reach of the initiative.
A True Community Effort
What made this event so special was the collective commitment from all involved. Players and families from each school embraced the purpose behind the day, understanding that their efforts supported a resource that is being relied on more than ever.
With the support of Bedford, Greater Lowell, and Wilmington, along with dedicated volunteers who helped bring the event to life, the tournament has become a meaningful tradition rooted in compassion and service.
Playing for Something Bigger
Even before the regular season began, Dracut Baseball made a lasting impact—demonstrating that success is not just measured by wins and losses, but by the difference made in the community.
This is what it truly means to play for something bigger.
