About:

My name is Anaïs Killian and I am a rising senior at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School (CRLS). I am a varsity captain of the Women’s Soccer Team at CRLS, and this will be my fourth year playing soccer for the school.

Many students at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School spent their Sunday morning or afternoon on May 16, 2021, volunteering to collect and organize clothing, dropped off by members of the community. Although several students from the CRLS Women’s Soccer Team volunteered, many other CRLS students from different sports teams also joined in, including members of volleyball, cross country, indoor track, outdoor track, lacrosse, and crew teams. An opportunity that brought many sports teams together, this volunteer experience brought forth 10 large boxes worth of clothing to community and homeless shelters in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Throughout the shifts, students greeted community members who dropped off their gently used clothing, and then organized the clothing into large boxes. These boxes were sealed by volunteers and donated later on to shelters.

Club 4, the largest club at CRLS, is dedicated to helping the homeless locally and nationally, specifically volunteering with various programs around Cambridge. Being able to learn about all the kinds of programs that are working towards a collective goal is so eye-opening, and students look forward to working more with community centers and shelters in the future. Despite the pandemic, Club 4 hit more than 1,000 cumulative volunteer hours this year. As a president of Club 4, I am so proud of every one of our volunteers and their hard work throughout this year.
