Each year the CD Jets, the team is made up of Averill Park, North Colonie, South Colonie, East Greenbush and Tamarac school district, dedicate a home game to host a Teacher Appreciation Ceremony.
Each player chooses a teacher or coach that has had a positive impact on them.
They provide the teacher’s name and a short blurb about what they appreciate the most.
The teaches are invited to the ceremony (pre-game) and are welcomed onto the ice for a picture with the player who chose them. The blurb is read aloud, and they are presented with a gift.
It’s a very nice ceremony and the teachers always love it. Most stay on to watch the game and cheer the team on.
