April 21 was a momentous occasion for students in the Herricks Public Schools’ Center Street School, as they celebrated Earth Day, Poem in Your Pocket Day and Light it up Blue for Autism Day simultaneously.
To raise autism awareness, students studnet athletes and faculty came to school dressed in blue for Light it up Blue Day. They commemorated Earth Day with a gathering in the courtyard where poems were read, songs were performed, posters were showcased and thoughts
were shared regarding taking care of and protecting the environment.
For Poem in Your Pocket Day, students shared many poems, which were safely stored in their pockets, with peers throughout the morning and afternoon.
