About:

Mrs. Brennan’s second-graders at Meadow Drive School in the Mineola Union Free School District, which include student athletes, are aspiring to be active participants in their community, as well as good citizens. Each week, a group of students from Mrs. Brennan’s class collects the cans and bottles around the Meadow Drive School building. Once compiled, the five- or six-person crew cleans them out and stores them. Parent-volunteers of the students in the takes the bag two or three times a month and, with their child, return them for deposit. In the spring, the class will use the money to food shop for the food pantry at St. Aidan’s in Williston Park.
