About:
Connolly School hosted a paper airplane-throwing contest on April 21 to benefit the Spread the Magic Foundation.
The foundation was created by magician Chad Juros, who visits sick children in hospitals to “spread some magic.” Connolly Student Council co-president Carter Suozzi inspired this idea for the fundraiser. Juros visited Carter in the hospital on his birthday last August. Chad touched Carter’s heart because he is also a childhood cancer survivor.
Each student , including student-athletes, paid $3 to participate in the airplane-throwing contest. If the children raise more than $1,000 for the foundation, Juros committed to performing a schoolwide magic assembly for the children in May. According to Carter’s mother, Jane Suozzi, donations have been pouring in and the amount raised will be unveiled during the magic assembly.
