About:
Students at George Washington School in West Hempstead held a schoolwide activity to celebrate veterans on Valentine’s Day.
Coordinated by George Washington Student Council adviser Kristen Ragusa, the school took part in Nassau County’s “Valentines for Veterans” program as students created their own thoughtful cards. Town Clerk Kate Murray and Town Councilman Tom Muscarella visited George Washington on Feb. 7 to collect the cards.
The cards will be distributed to veterans in hospital and nursing home settings to thank them for their services.
