At Woodhull School in Fire Island School District, we are committed to instilling in our students a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by veterans and a profound respect for their service.
First and second graders in Mrs. McNulty’s class listened to a read aloud explaining the significance of Veterans Day. The students then wrote letters to veterans thanking them for their service and reached out to organizations to help deliver them to local veterans. One of Woodhull’s fifth graders wrote an informational announcement about the history and significance of Veterans Day and read his piece aloud during the morning announcements for the benefit of all students and staff.
