About:
The Hoops for Hope event started 18 years ago with the Hewlett Boy’s Basketball team playing against another school. The boys on the team are asked to solicit sponsorship from parents, local businesses, etc.
Over the years, different teams have also held Hoops for Hope Games. Pre-covid there were a few games per year .This year, Bethpage and Cold Spring Harbor played a Hoops for Hope Game and raised $500. The Sibs Place Board of Directors and supporters would guarantee that the schools would not lose money. We really wanted exposure for Sibs. Almost every game, somebody would realize that the services we provide are necessary for someone in their life.
The proceeds this year were earned through t-shirt and Journal Ads. We never use a company that takes a percentage. All money after expenses(shirts, screens, refreshments) go directly to Sibs Place. We are a local community based organization and the partnership with Hewlett Basketball will continue as long as there is a need.
