On Thursday, April 25th, Ipswich and North Reading joined forces to show their support for Morgan’s Message. After participating in a Morgan’s Message Game last year in North Reading, it was only natural for Ipswich Girls Lacrosse to reciprocate the gesture this year.
Morgan’s Message, initiated by her family and former teammates, aims to eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health, normalize conversations about it, and ensure that mental health receives the same attention as physical health for all student-athletes.
As a Middle School Guidance Counselor, Morgan’s Message holds personal significance for me, Allison Tivnan. Likewise, North Reading’s coach, Matt Costello, being a Health and Physical Education Teacher, recognizes its importance. Matt and I both stress the significance of prioritizing the physical and mental health of our student-athletes. By participating in these Morgan’s Message Games, we hope to raise awareness about the importance of both aspects of our student athletes’ well-being.
Our intention is for our teams to uphold this tradition for years to come. Furthermore, we aspire to see numerous other teams supporting Morgan’s Message in the future.
