About:
Jess played at NDA and coached for many years and as stated, unfortunately, lost her life to breast cancer after a very courageous battle with breast cancer. During Jess’ time coaching, she taught our girls so much more than the sport of basketball. NDA basketball teams up annually with South Shore SNAP (Special Needs Athletic Partnership) and our girls “coach” children with special needs who have an interest in basketball. This relationship and collaboration was started by Jess years ago and continuing that is important to our program.
Through basketball, we raise funds each year to provide a scholarship in Jess’ name, ‘JBA Scholarship’ to a deserving student-athlete at NDA. The girls raise money each year to be put towards the scholarship funds. This year, the girls sold t-shirts (which was a bit difficult through COVID) to put the proceeds towards the scholarship for this year.
It’s important for our program to remember Jess and her legacy.
Ten girls on the roster sold approximately 300 t-shirts for the event. The best part was when the referees of one of the games asked if they could purchase one!
