With the support of the entire school community, Babylon Memorial Grade School raised more than $2,000 during their Pennies for Patients fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The multi-week program, organized by the student council, was a service learning, character education and philanthropy program that afforded students the chance to make a difference by working to provide aid to those fighting blood cancers like leukemia. During the initiative, the students collected monetary donations from family and friends and monitored their progress on a school chart.
