About:
The school’s Pink October, included a multitude of events
The month began with Kick off Pink October, where students donated a dollar to try and kick the longest field goal. The school also hosted a Pink it Up day and encouraged students and faculty to donate $2 for a bracelet and pink ribbon cutout.
Other activities held included a Pink it Up poster contest, with students creating colorful and meaningful pieces of artwork incorporating the words, pink it up; and Pink with Poetry, which invited students to create original works using the themes pain and suffering/hope and strength.
A Pink Pumpkin Patch was also organized by the Art Honor Society, who painted pumpkins pink with unique designs for students and faculty to purchase.
All of the school’s fundraising efforts throughout the month of October benefited the American Cancer Society. In all, the school raised $5,600 for the organization. “I truly am so proud to be part of such an amazing school community” Kaspar said. “Our first Pink October was an outstanding month of events. New Hyde Park will continue the fight until there’s a cure!”
