About:
The Island Park Public Schools recently celebrated positive actions, healthy attitudes and responsible choices during Red Ribbon Week. From Oct. 25-29, Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School and Lincoln Orens Middle School both held an assortment of activities, lessons and events tied to these topics.
Both buildings presented morning announcements that emphasized the week’s messages and featured daily themes to which students and staff members dressed accordingly. They wore red to kick off the week and concluded it with Character Day costumes. The days in between were bright with superhero attire, positive slogan shirts and college apparel. Students also signed “Drug Free Looks Like Me” pledge posters and created other projects related to Red Ribbon Week’s values.
