About:
The 23rd annual Rainbow Classic basketball games as cross-town rivals Mendon and Sutherland high schools take to the court. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Golisano Children’s Hospital.
Since the Rainbow Classic began, PCSD has raised over $500,000 for Golisano Children’s Hospital. The Rainbow Classic was established in memory of Park Road Elementary School student Katelyn Pasley. It later expanded to include the memory of 2002 Sutherland High School graduate Ryan McCluski. The event now honors the memory of many Pittsford students as the community comes together to support the Golisano Children’s Hospital and pay tribute to the memory of loved ones.

One town and two schools came together Friday for an electric night of competition, with an impact that goes far beyond the final buzzer.
The 22nd annual Rainbow Classic hit the hardwood at the University of Rochester Palestra.
Every year, the Pittsford Mendon and Pittsford Sutherland High School varsity basketball teams go face-to-face in the crosstown showdown, which raises money for the Golisano Children’s Hospital.
“It really brings a town together,” said Leora Cook, captain. “I’m playing against some of my best friends on the other team, but it makes it more fun. For such a great cause, the intensity is awesome. The nerves are there but it just makes the game more fun.”
A check for $30,000 was presented to Golisano between tonight’s games.
The event, which began in 2001, has raised more $500,000 for the children’s hospital over the years.
