About:
Earlier this year, Able Athletics made initial contact with Coach James Loughran. Their involvement in various sports activities in the local area prompted them to explore the possibility of adding basketball to their program.
For Coach Loughran, the decision to organize a fundraising event during one of their home games this season was a straightforward one. However, when they also requested the team to host clinics for their athletes this year, Coach Loughran did not hesitate. To him, this opportunity extends beyond the realm of basketball. It’s about allowing our athletes to engage with children who have different life experiences, sharing their passion and love with those who may not have the same opportunities.
The interaction between our student athletes and the Able Athletics participants will have a profound impact on both groups. When the request came to involve Yorktown as well, there was no hesitation. Bringing together both communities and giving back is a fundamental aspect of life and making a positive impact. Both the varsity programs from Yorktown and Somers will conduct two 45-minute clinics at Somers High School, scheduled for January 7th and January 14th from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM, leading up to our Able Athletics Night against Yorktown on January 17th at Somers High School.
🏀 What an incredible day of Able Basketball, co-hosted by the Yorktown and Somers varsity teams! A huge round of applause to our athletes – your enthusiasm and skill were the highlights of the day! A big thank you to our coaches, therapists, and volunteers for a great day! 🎉🏀 pic.twitter.com/7ZIOOOt8pq
