About:
It was a marathon of jump roping and basketball for students at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School, as the Port Jefferson students participated in the school’s annual Jump Rope & Hoop fundraising event for the American Heart Association on March 19.
Following an hour of working on their own cardiovascular health, the second through fifth-grade students raised more than $9,500 for the American Heart Association. In addition to acting as a fundraiser for the American Heart Association, the collaborate effort by the Parents and Teachers Association and the Physical Education Department aimed to raise awareness about heart disease.
