At Team Up 4 Community, we love highlighting athletes who are using their platform to serve others and the Florida Gators recently did just that in a big way.
Twelve University of Florida student-athletes spent 10 days in the Dominican Republic leading sports clinics, engaging with children and families, and immersing themselves in the country’s culture. From coaching young athletes to exploring local landmarks, their trip was about more than sports — it was about building relationships, inspiring hope, and making a difference.
Highlights of the trip included:
-
Serving at sports clinics in Santo Domingo and engaging with the local community
-
Exploring Los Tres Ojos National Park, known for its underground freshwater lakes (“The Three Eyes”)
-
Visiting museums at Plaza de la Cultura
-
Participating in the KahKow Experience to learn about chocolate-making
-
Paddleboarding at Boca Chica
-
Hiking and swimming at Hoyo Claro (with lunch)
-
Taking a catamaran excursion to Isla Saona
Student-Athletes Participating:
-
Gymnastics: Kayla DiCello, Gabby Disidore, Skylar Draser, Selena Harris-Miranda
