Hingham High School’s Volleyball team recently hosted its 2nd annual Dig Turquoise event, raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research. This year’s event was particularly meaningful as the team dedicated the night to honoring the life of Adelia, a 2nd grader from South School who tragically passed away from brain cancer this past May. The team’s motivation to make a difference and raise awareness for this cause was evident in their efforts both on and off the court.
Team members Clara Reive, Caroline Shelsy, Jewlia Ibanez, Mia Sacco, and Kaitlyn Truong led the organization of the event, handling everything from planning to managing concessions. All proceeds from the evening went directly to Adelia the Wondergirl Fund, a cause that resonates deeply within the community.
The evening featured a special recognition of Adelia and those who have supported her in the fight against pediatric cancer. After the first set, a heartfelt message was shared with the crowd, and the dance team gave a special performance between sets two and three. The volleyball team also welcomed the Duxbury team to be part of the event, fostering a sense of unity and support for this critical cause.
With a strong turnout and successful fundraising efforts, the Dig Turquoise event was an inspiring evening filled with hope, remembrance, and dedication. The volleyball team and the community came together once again to support a cause that impacts so many lives, making this year’s event even more impactful than the last.
