On September 15th, the Lake George Boys Soccer team, under the leadership of Coach Blake White, spent a rewarding afternoon giving back to the community. With 20 players participating, the team split into groups of 5-6 and spent over two hours cleaning up the southern end of the area and the stream leading to Rt. 9. Equipped with gloves and large plastic bags (one for garbage and one for recyclables), the players collected trash, making the environment cleaner and more enjoyable for everyone.
To conclude the cleanup, the team was treated to a barbecue, generously sponsored by the LG Beach Club. It was a great opportunity for the players to come together, celebrate their hard work, and bond as a team while reflecting on the positive impact they made.
This community service initiative was introduced the previous year, when a parent suggested the team participate. After a successful and fulfilling experience, the team eagerly returned for another year of giving back. The players’ dedication to improving the community is truly inspiring, and they look forward to continuing this tradition.
The team’s service didn’t stop there. On October 19th, 22 players participated in assisting with the bocce ball segment of the New York State Special Olympics, held at the Dome. The players were divided into groups of four, managing various aspects of the game, including signaling who would shoot next, measuring ball positions, and keeping score. The athletes were incredibly grateful for how the boys ran the event and interacted with them, making it a rewarding experience for all involved.
These experiences serve as a reminder of the powerful impact that community service can have. From cleaning up local areas to supporting athletes with special needs, the Lake George Boys Soccer team continues to make positive contributions to their community. The team looks forward to more opportunities to serve and inspire others through their actions. Go Warriors!
